Art showing
So my friend Mariah asked me if I'd be interested in being part of her art showing at the Highland Tavern. "Sure" I said. Then scratched my head thinking. "I should probably paint something for it." Well, I did and if anyone would like to swing by and check them out, here's the info.

2009-02-14: Bokeh test

Abstarct Beatings V3.0
So I was messing around with trying to make my drawings more cinematic. First up is the aspect ratio 2.35:1. Then the background being out of focus...or what is referred to as the Bokeh.
All done in photoshop.
Oh yeah, the inspiration for this pic was William Brenton from Abstract Beatings:)

2009-01-20: New Short- Raw Meat

UPDATED
Now I've had issues with this short since the script was chosen and then there were the growing pains of working with lots of new people and having to rely on other people to shoot it. Jeff had some time to rework the edit and it plays a bit better now. Check out theLatest version at his site.

Raw Meat is a short movie we shot for a 72 hour short film competition this last weekend. It was shot using two Red One cameras and the .R3d files were edited in Premiere Pro CS4. Give it a look.

2007-10-10: London Bound

nevermore
I'll be in London this Halloween for the launch party of the Edgar Allen Poe Graphic Novel: Nevermore.
There will be some of the contributers there for a signing. This will be my first time in London so I'm really excited about the trip. Of course being so close to Scotland, I'll have to spend a couple days in Edinburgh and to make the trip complete a pint at Deacon Brody's Pub. Yum hag-ass....blech.

Yes this is a business trip...I'll be scouting locations for the Killer of Wolves movie as well. That's so my accountant will stay happy with me.

Cheers,
E.

2007-09-03: found writings Vol 1

and no eggs
So I was kicking through some stuff while moving and ran across this little ditty from several years ago. It was a stream of conscience sort of thing and I guess I was feeling a bit morose...So I thought I'd share the warm fuzzies:)
E.

2007-08-13: Published..finally.

Nevermore will be the first time my artwork has been published. After years of submitting comic proposals and self publishing issues, it's finally happening.

EDIT: So my buddy Dave from Mile High Comics was going to order some copies of Nevermore for this Halloween...Turns out that 10-31-07 is the release date for the UK only and the book won't be out in the US until Spring '08. Boo, but..It's been picked up by Barnes and Noble. That's pretty F'n huge as far as getting the book out to the masses. It'll be easier to get a copy at the local B&N than trying to find a local comic book shop.

2006-09-23: NEW CRAVE LOUNGE

crave
UPDATE- Thanks for everyone who made it out to the opening, it was a great Friday night. The club is open everyday (Sun-Thurs@5 and Fri-Sat@7) and and there is never a cover. I hope we made some regular customers because I just became one too.
E.

Friday September 29, 2006 is the Grand opening of Denver’s newest and best nightclub CRAVE at 1523 Market St. in Lower Downtown. With three Floors, a very cool atmosphere, and a great staff everyone will see the difference. This is what a night out should be. /shill.
Why is this ITM news? Well I’m one of the owners. Cool eh? That’s why there haven’t been any updates lately. But fret not, ITM is still in the movie and comic book biz. There are a couple of projects that just need some i’s dotted before I announce them. Cool stuff is on the way. Until then stop by the club and have a drink. Tell ‘em Erik sent you.

2006-08-01: Pics From Comic Con

banner
Well another comic-con has come and gone and most of the cool news has been spread throughout the internets for over a week now. So I’m not going to bother with any of the big announcements that were made or all the cool panels and celebrities that I saw. I’m just going to show some pics.
By the way if you haven’t heard of a movie called 300, then look out…this has shot up to the top of my list of must see movies coming out. It’s based on a Frank Miller graphic novel.
Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino are in mid production of a movie called Grind House and the clip that they showed was hyper violent and incredibly kick ass.
There was no recording allowed of the footage but I can just go on the record and say that they are both must see flicks.
Enjoy the Pics.

2006-07-13: COMIC CON!

SDCCThe San Diego Comic Con (July 20-23) is the biggest Pop culture convention in the world. It's not just about comics, movies, and video games. It's also about mingling and drinking. With that said...if anyone wants to have a beer, I'll be there from Friday morning until Sunday night. Look for me wearing a really cool ITM shirt.
I'll be sure to bring back plenty of pics and stories.
E.

2006-05-23: Storyboarding/PreViz

Well I survived Vegas and found the camera of my dreams...RED. It's going to be awesome.
Last week we got to test out a motion capture suit. Very cool technology. For those unfamiliar with "MoCap", It's where the movements of a person (subject) are captured via points placed on the subjects body that are then imported into a 3D program. Once in the program, the movement of the points can be applied to a computer generated person or character. The computer generated character will move just like the subject whose movements were captured earier. Hope that made sense. If not, go watch the special features on the "King Kong" DVD.(2005 version)
On a slightly similar yet different note. I've been messing around with storyboarding in Cinema 4D.(it's a 3D program) This is considered Pre-Visualization or "PreViz" for short. The advantage of this over conventional pictures drawn on a sheet of paper is that it's better at conveying not just the shot setup but the action and movement of the camera . It's like a really really rough version of the movie. But it helps everyone(Crew) get a better idea of what needs to be done rather than just a black and white scribble. Here's an example.
Remember it's like a moving storyboard and meant to get the shot placement and camera movements across. Not a PIXAR movie. But they do the same thing.

2006-04-18: NAB 2006-VEGAS BABY!

I'll be attending NAB next week from the 23rd to the 25th in Vegas to check out the new generation of Digital Cinema Cameras.
Like this one and this one.
I'll report back if I make it out of there alive...Video Geeks can really Drink!
Vote on IFC yet? Open the previous post down below.
E.

Well our newest short is up at IFC and it'd be nice if everyone (in the world!) would follow the link and register, then vote for us. It's easy. It's fun. And it'll make you feel good.

1. You can go to IFC if you click here or...
2. You can just Register here. You will have to have a valid Email address to verify your registration.
3. Once you've set up your account (the search feature is on the top right)...Search for-
The Shootout(action), The Shadows(mystery), or El Explosivo(comedy).
If you've already given all of the above a 10 and you feel like you haven't had your fill of ITM goodness then you can also search for ERLIK: The prequel, and Erlik. Both of these were directed by a friend of ITM, Efren Gutierrez.
Here's a Color Correction Comparison

Thanks everybody.
E.

OK so it’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve submitted “The Shootout” to IFC's media lab and it’s still under review. Hopefully we’ll hear from them soon enough and get the voting started. Expect the announcement the second I get confirmation. In the mean time if you click around the site you might be able to find it…it’s REALLY hard to find too. Should you happen to find it…feedback is always appreciated.
Color Correction Comparison

On another note I submitted my feature length script into a screenplay competition a few months ago and heard back from them recently, a form letter that says “…although your screenplay had merit…” I guess a screenplay called “Killer of Wolves” (werewolf flick) didn’t find an audience with the American Screenwriters Association. Weird huh? So either I’m on the right path…or not. They don’t offer any reviews or advice unless you shell out another 110 bucks. Given that I’ve already forked over 65 for the entry fee, I think I’ll pass. Do not lose hope (he says to himself) this movie will get made as soon as I learn a few more tricks behind the camera.

2006-03-25: Spec Commercial

Tortillas Mexico Commercial
It's in Spanish and might be airing on TV, although it's still too soon to say for sure but thanks to the wonders of the internets you don't have to sit by the tele to watch it... All you have to do is click HERE.
If you couldn't tell although I think it's pretty obvious, we shot this in front of the Green screen. That was quite a learning experience but one that will no doubt help us out in the future.
My many thanks go out to Atilano, Ilene, Emily and Efren.
E.

I just finished the final edit of our newest short titled "The Shootout" and I've already submitted it to IFC's Site. Once they approve it and put it online I will let everyone know. Now why don't I just put it up on this site for now? Because I want everyone to check it out and vote for it over at IFC. But for a glimpse of what it looks like here are some...Stills from the final edit
Enjoy

2006-02-12: Latest shoot

Plenty of Pics

Thanks to everyone that helped out.
More to come.
E.

IFC's Site for Indie Shorts
Now is the time to give us a little bit of support. Click the link above and head on over there. Then using the search option type in (The Shadows)...watch and rate. You will have to register to vote..but it's easy. Then do the same with (El Explosivo)...I'm not saying you have to give us a 10 out of 10 but it'd be nice to get some views. The highest scoring shorts will be shown on the IFC cable channel. Lots of exposure there, huh? So tell your friends, mommas, baby's mommas, neighbors, strangers, jehovas witness', and don't forget to write your senator. :)
Thanks in advance everybody.
E.

They must be up to something.

Well yes, yes we are up to something.
Expect pics and vids early next week.

The script for the new short that we are shooting is being finalised and the story boards will be done before we shoot. When are we shooting? This weekend, that's why its been a bit quiet around here. I just wanted to let everyone know that we ain't dead yet.

E.

2006-01-12: Happy New Year!

"The Shadows" has been accepted into the Independant Film Channel's new website for indie shorts. HOO-AH! Read more about it here.
EDIT:"El Explosivo" HAS ALSO BEEN ACCEPTED.
In the time being...You can see both shorts here.
Which brings me to this...We will be shooting another short this month and if all things go smoothly a second one in February...Already doubling our output of last year! So I'm opening the floodgates. If anyone wants to be a part of either of these shorts...cast, crew, anything but director(everyone tends to think they already are one.;p) Shoot me an E-mail and I'll send you some more info.
See ya in a few.
E.

2005-12-03: Yeah, I built this.

So I added the Letus35a Depth of Field adapter to my camera, and with it a lot of extra weight to the front threads. So, I was gonna buy a rod support system. Then I saw some pictures of some online and said "I can build one of those." So I grabbed some scrap pieces of aluminum and a couple of stainless steel rods and went to work. Two days later this is what I came up with...
Gallery
The support sytem allows me to slap all sorts of gear to my camera and make the girls/actresses all sex-cited! And well...isn't that what it's all about anyway?;)
You'll notice that the Letus35a has a new paint job and a Logo on the side. That was me trying to spiff it up a bit.
Enjoy the pics and if you have any questions hit the contact button below.

2005-11-17: More pretty pictures!

So Me and a couple friends of mine are working on an anthology trade paper back.(A collection of comic books bound together in a book format)We have a couple ideas floating around and here is one of mine. I'm not going to go into detail on the plot or much anything else, but here is a pic where I completely skipped the inking process and just tightened up the pencils in Photoshop.

2005-11-13: 35mm Adapter

I've been trying out a new adapter for my camera (JVC JY-HD10u) here is some footage and stills that show the Depth of Field effect most of us don't seem to notice (unless it's not there) while watching movies. Video has a difficult time achieving this effect...hence, the Letus35A adapter. For more info on the adapter go here.
